What if I’m under 13?

Answer:

If you’re aged under 13 and having sex or sexual activity or you think you might have sex soon, please visit your local sexual health clinic.

The staff will listen to you, answer any questions you have and talk to you about how to keep safe and look after yourself.

The law says that anyone under the age of 13 cannot legally agree to have sex. The staff will talk to you about this.

Sexual health clinics won’t tell a parent or carer that you’ve been to see us. But they will encourage you to talk to a parent or carer if you can.

Staff will never share any of your details or anything you say with anyone who doesn’t work at the sexual health clinic unless they’re very worried about you. If the staff think you or someone else is at risk of harm, they may need to talk to other professionals about you. If the staff do need to talk to someone else, they will always try and talk to you about this first.
